Mexico! Mexico!

Ms. Mysterious read who the 2007 Academy Awards Nominees were, and couldn't help being proud. Five Mexicans were nominated this time. FIVE! First time in our history!
Best Movie - Babel
Best Director - Alejandro Gonzales IƱarritu (Babel)
Best Screenplay- Guillermo Arriaga (Babel)
Best Foreign Picture - Pan's Labyrinth
Best Supporting Actress - Adriana Barraza (Babel)

Plus Best Film Editing and Best Musical Score- Babel (yeah, neither of those guys are Mexican, but they had a Mexican Director, so we'll include them in the post ;))

It's good to know that someone is making something out of their lives... Anyway, time for Ms. Mysterious to rethink her life. Again. And again. And again.

Mr. Bellamy

Matt Bellamy, kicking a$$ in BDO. Yup, he's my future husband (although he doesn't know it yet):P

Ms. Mysterious' day out

Tuesday morning and Ms. Mysterious is still sore after spending a day under the unforgiving Aussie sun, jumping and shouting and singing with all her might. Yup, I'm talking about the Big Day Out Festival, that took place in the Gold Coast this last Sunday.
What can I say? It was awesome and terrible at the same time. I'm not an expert on music festivals, but I'll compare this one to my previous experience, year and a half ago, at the Austin City Limits...
....
Now that I think about it, the hell with comparisons! I'll just go straight to the point' BDO's organization was pretty bad. The had this "barricades" that were totally useless, plus just one entry point (and exit) to the area in front of the stage (the mosh area). There were two stages, one next to the other, and as one band was playing, the other stage was getting ready for the next band. That doesn't sound like a bad idea, but if you were watching one band, you couldn't go to the stage next to you. You had to go out the same way you came in, a tiny passage, which if you think about it, it's a really dangerous way to control the crowd. Mr. Marshmallow and I were "in line" to get inside the mosh area to watch the Killers, and subsequently, Muse, but after being almost 50 minutes stuck without moving, under the sun, thousands of people pushing and screaming wanting to get in, (some of them getting really violent after being drinking for half of the day) we decided to get the hell away from there. 30 minutes later or more, the organizers decided to finally tell the people that there was not room left in the mosh area. Thank you dear organizers! Duuuuuuuuuude! That's one of the things that you have to be able to say in time, before people start almost killing each other.
Anyway, to make the story short, we got a good spot close to the stage, on one side, just in front of the second barricade. (It was really good, cause I could really see the show.. no big guys in front of me heheh). Anyway, Ms. Mysterious was more than happy watching MUSE. They are absolute gods. Really. What better way to start the show than with Knights of Cydonia? (yup, one of my favorite songs from their last album). They kept on going with songs like Starlight, New Born, Supermassive Black Hole, Hysteria, Map of the Problematique, Invincible... to finally wrap it up with Take a bow. Matt, Chris and Dom where superb. Period. And, yeah, I must admit that the one that really gets your attention is Matt Bellamy... That guys knows how to play. DAAAMN!

Anyway, after that we left BDO. And yeah, even though we were not really happy with the organization, acts such as My Chemical Romance, John Butler and Muse, made the day worthwhile. Anyway, Rock on, sinners. Let the music fill your lives and souls.

See you all later.

BDO!!!

No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive

- Muse (Knights of Cydonia)

Oh yeah.. A break from reality. Tomorrow's Big Day Out!!! Time to have watch perform some of my favorite bands such as Muse and My Chemical Romance... Who knows? Someone might even adopt me as their groupie! *Ms. mysterious smiles thinking of the possibilities...*

Back to square one

Three continents in one day and a half, and I'm finally back in Kangarooland. Don't mind the crappy food they offer in certain airlines, or the lack of space (and oxygen) that you have to put up with for hours and hours during your flight. No, no, there are far things worse than that. Your BUTT. Yes, my dear sinners, your beloved Ms.Mysterious suffered a severe desbuttisation (yes, that's an invented word, so sue me) . Anyway, it's been almost four days since I got back, and it's time to get in the ring again.

I wish I had a perfect plan, but that's not the case. I watch my friends back in Numbtown and I'm so proud of them. They've found their place in this world. They have stability that I just can dream of having. Yeah, yeah, I know nobody's life is perfect, but still, it helps a lot to have an idea of what you're good at, and actually being able to do it.

This year I'll be 30, and everyday that passes I feel more like a teenager. Lost, but at the same time, living in a world full of possibilities and opportunities. I still believe I can be anything I want to be when I grow up, but the thing is that, I'm all grown up. Can someone about to reach her thirties still dream of being someone else? Can we start all over, leaving behind all the mistakes from our past? Who decided that you're too old to dream and to reinvent yourself over and over again?

Anyway, just ranting on this beautiful Friday morning... Have a nice weekend my dear sinners. I know mine will be great. I'll be going to the Big Day Out, and watch the performances of Muse, My chemical Romance, Jet, the Killers and much more... Hehehehe. Who knows? Maybe I'll become a groupie and travel around the world. In this world, there's only one truth:
Anything can happen.

Round 2 - Minus 1

One day before I leave Numbtown... Winter vacations are almost over for me, and it will be time to get in the ring, once more. What will the next year bring? Will it be as hard as the last one? Will overcome my fear and my problems? Will I finally DO something with my life? Or will it be the end of a dream, of an era, of a relationship?
I have no idea what's going to happen, but in the meantime I have just three words:

BRING IT ON, motherjumpers!

(ok, those were three words and an extra bizarre and diplomatic one to say mother#$%) :P
