The end is near!

Don't you love those little moments when everything seems to fall into place? Little things like finding money in your winter jacket, or listening your favorite song on the radio, just when you were thinking of that particular song, or even dreaming about someone you haven't seen in a while and the next day bumping into him or her? Yeah... all of that is nice. Yet, is has not much to do with today's post. Not really. I just felt like writing that. Anyway, let's move on.

Sometimes, when you least expect it, a good show turns brilliant. I just finished watching Doctor Who, "the sound of drums". It was really cool. Filled with energy, magic, good performances, and cute guys. Just think about it; John Simm, David Tennant and John Barrowman in the same room?
There IS a God up there!

We still have one more episode 'till this season ends, and by the way things are going, it looks like it's going to be pretty spectacular. For the last two episodes since Jack and the Master came back I've been really enjoying the dialogues about Gallifrey, Torchwood, Rose, the battle of Canary Wharf, the Last Great War and all those little details that make us geeks happy and make us suffer and curse the heavens every time each episode ends. Bless Russell T. Davies for this season finale.
As Life on Mars DI Sam Tyler would wisely point out, it's all in the details.

Anyway, one more week 'till the end of the world! Have fun 'till then, my dear sinners =)

In Spielberg we trust!

Yup, Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, once again. Yes, they just started filming. Yes, I'm really excited. It brings back so many memories, you know? I remember freakin' out the first time I saw everyone melting as they were opening the ark on Raiders of the Lost Ark. I remember the total and absolute fear when the heart of that Indian guy was being taken out in the ceremony, as Indy, Willie and Short Round watched. Then I remember being old enough to go to the movie theater with my best friends (plus my friend's dad), to watch Indiana Jones and the last crusade... I went back and watched it for another 6 times , plus God knows how many other times I watched it back home when the video finally came out. I knew (and still know) most of the dialogues, the music, the moves, everything. God, those were the days... Heroes saving the day....
(Ms. Mysterious feels a funny thing on her chest. I guess she still have feelings after all).

As usual, I'll keep my fingers crossed, and hope this will be an awesome adventure, the last and best of them all. Looking forward to see you soon Doctor Jones!

Back in 1973...

She's as nervous as a very small nun at a penguin shoot
- Life on Mars

Yeah, that's me. Nervous. What's going to happen today? What will I watch that will make me laugh, that will make my heart race, that will make me feel alive?

Let me explain. Yesterday was an great day, in terms of TV shows. I finally watched Doctor Who's Utopia, (awesome, but I'll rant about it later). The thing is, Mr. Marshmallow and I finished watching Life on Mars second season. I know, I know, this is old news for most of you, since the show ended a while ago. But for us, humble blog gods, it was a new experience. I suppose I don't need to say how AMAZING this show is. It's funny, exciting, intelligent. I won't say more. I fell in love with both DCI Hunt and DC Tyler. And to be honest, I'm not quite sure I want to watch the spin off, Ashes to Ashes, to be set on the 80's. There are things that you just have to let go. Life on Mars ended on a high note, after two seasons. Yeah, I would love to keep on watching it for years and years, but it probably would have lost part of what makes it so special. It is one of those shows that need to end. You need to end with the mystery, you know? And avoid doing the same mistake they did with shows like Lost for example, or even The Prisoner (don't kill me, just think of the last episodes that lost a little bit of what the show was supposed to be) Is not like Doctor Who that can keep going forever and ever.

Anywa, this phrase stuck in the back of my mind, and I can't stop hearing it
You know you're alive when you can feel....

How alive am I? How alive do you feel now? How much of our lives we spent sedated, just following a routine, pretending we're living?... I feel I'm in a coma, and the only time I see light is when my mind wonders beyond the limits of this life, beyond the confinement of the years, the hours, the days of life, beyond the limited space we fill, beyond the rules, beyond what life should be. I guess I mean, when I dream. I've always been convinced that at night, we leave this world and live a second life in other realms... A life much more confusing maybe (is that even possible?), but definitely more interesting. I'm ranting uncontrollably now. You see? That's why I stopped blogging. I can't control any of my ideas, and most of them make no sense at all. Hopefully no one will read this, and I won't be sent to my padded cell. I don't know, I guess I'm just tired from looking life from the outside. I guess I just have to find a better way to make this the dream world, the life over the rainbow.

Anyway, I'm off now. Enough ranting for one day.

I'm filming in the rain (8), what a glorious day, and I'm happy again (8)

The euphoria is wearing off now... Two nights ago I was part of a film crew. Nothing fancy, just a short film. But still... It was quite an experience. I started last Sunday. We would be working from 5 pm to 5 am. Could I last two days like that? Working under the rain, freezing, just trying to follow instructions, trying to learn, while I pretended I didn't suck that much? Would they kick me out of the set as soon as they realized that I had no idea what I was doing?

Well, I survived. I lasted long enough to hear the most awesome words you can hear while shooting: "It's a wrap!"

I started out as Gaffer. I had no idea how to do it properly. But nothing exploded, no one got electrocuted. So I guess I wasn't THAT bad. (I was bad, but it could have been worse). On the second day (which I ended up arriving to the apartment at 7am), I started as gaffer, but since a lot of people failed to go, I ended up being Assistant to the DP (Director of photography). The man knew what he was doing. He was really good. I wasn't. At moments I thought he would wrap a cable around my neck, and just let me hanging there, under the rain. But again, I survived.

Now I'm dying to do it again. You see, all my life I've loved watching movies. To be honest, half of my conversations are about that. The other half about music. So... what if someone could actually do what he or she loves? What if you could actually be part of something great, that will probably survive the test of time?

Music and movies, my dear sinners... For me, those are the things that define the beauty of each generation. Or the horrors. Or the fears. Music and movies can tell the truth... Of course we're talking about the real pieces of art, not just ANY movie or song. I know...there are tons of thing that can do that. Tell the story of a generation I mean. But for me. those two things are the most direct, easy way to connect with humanity. With the future, with the past.

And no, of course I'm not saying that the short film I worked in was that important. It was good. And that's fine for me now. It might be the beginning of a whole new adventure... and if it's not, I'll still have the memories of yours truly, Ms. Mysterious, standing in the rain, soaked, freezing, holding the clapper in her hands, and thinking , "damn, it can't get better than this"
=)

Stuck in the seventies? Like Super suits? Love Timelords? It's all here!

Hmm... Got some time to spare? Dying to see some videos from the upcoming Iron Man flick? Well, here you have them. No, you won't see Iron Man flying, or closeups of Downey in the suit, or anything particularly interesting... But it's better than nothing. You get to see the helmet up close though.. and it looks PREEETTY COOL.

So, what have I been up to this weekend? Not much... YET. Tomorrow in the afternoon I'll be helping out in a short film, here in Kangarooland. I'll be a gaffer. No, I have no idea exactly what I'll do. So, if you happen to see the news and you find there was a fire, due to an electrical problem while students filmed a short in Brisbane, Australia, think of yours truly. Oh yeah... it's going to be quite an experience hehe =)

WHOA! I just realized something. I won't be able to watch Doctor Who tomorrow night!!!!!!!! DAAAAAAAAAAAMN IT!!! For those of you, innocent creatures who haven't tasted the pleasures of life, Doctor Who is THE sci fi show. Cheesy, kind of stupid sometimes, but a hell of a ride. I could live watching that, TORCHWOOD and Life on Mars for the rest of my life. (ok, maybe not THE rest of my life, but you get the idea.) God bless the BBC!!!

Enough with the useless ranting now. See ya later, sinners.
