She's alive!!!

I know, I've been neglecting my beautiful and useless blog, so here are a couple of lines of things that caught my attention today...

-It seems that Pierce Brosnan will be James Bond one more time in Casino Royale. (Thank GOD. No Orlando Bloom for now)

- Someone knows about my growing addiction to 24 and decided to make a comic book about the series. 24: Midnight sun, continues telling Jack Bauer's adventures and misadventures.

- If you have some spare time maybe you'll like to check "Blue tights network" http://www.bluetights.net/bulletin_list.php . This site includes several Bryan Singer journals and videos that show you the developments in the Superman Returns movie
(Check video #8. Peter Jackson appears for a couple of seconds and MAN he's really thin... Maybe King Kong's eating Jackson's meals? *sigh*)

-Green Day is making the soundtrack for Batman Begins??...They're good, but not THAT good...

Okay. Bed. Now. ZzzzZZZzzzZZz. Later, sinners.

I've heard Vogon poetry and lived to tell about it!

I went ahead and saw The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie, and I actually thought that it was both pretty enjoyable and pretty bad. Yes, you read that right. I found it enjoyable, because I won't deny that I had a pretty good time, I laughed a fair bit,and the I found the visuals to be quite fantastic. At the same time a lot of really good comedy that worked on the printed page and on the radio shows is quite frankly gone. Most of the lines were changed for no good reason, others added which fall flat on their face, big time; the plot has been completely reworked, characters given new motivations and worst of all, they miss the point.

It's very strange, because it is as though the directors and screnwriter made the movie based on what a friend, an a drunken one at that, told them what the movie was about, and used that as their plot. But at the same time everyone else involved in their film made an absolutely incredible film (given what they had to work with) such as the Vogons, for instance, which are simply wonderful, as is everything else around them.

In other words everything that made the book and radio show good is pretty much gone, but, the movie is stil enjoyable. I promise to put further thoughts later on

We live in a beautiful world...Yeah we do (8)

Just as Colplay said, We live in a beautiful world. Oh yes. It's been a good week for television. Yesterday I was able to catch up with my favorite TV shows, and Alleluya! I was not disappointed.
Let's start with ALIAS. A hell of a TV show that was almost destroyed this fourth season. Thank god things started to get better since episode 11, when things finally started to happen. Yes, I'm truly convinced that JJ Abrams forgot this great show to pay attention to his newest idea, LOST (yes, it rules too). Anyway, episode 16 "Another Mister Sloane" showed us again strong, energetic characters and crazy, twisted plots, OOh...Just like the old days.

On the other hand we have Smallville, Episode 18 "Spirit". Thank god it had nothing to do with the annoying subplot of Lana and her ancestor, but another stupid, yet entertaining teen plot with the kryptonite- affected villain of the week. Hey, in the end, characters are what matter. We love to see Clark turning into the man of steel that we all adore. Yes, Ms. Mysterious was happy to see Clark dance with Lana in their prom. Sue me. I was in a romantic mood.

And finally, my new love, the doctor. Yes, DOCTOR WHO. This guy just makes
my day. Eccleston, the guy who portrays the doctor, knows how to deliver a great performance. He's funny and optimistic. And he sure knows how to have fun on the show.
So I saw episode 4 "Aliens of London" and I'm struggling not to watch the next one till next Saturday (TV date with Mr. Marshmallow...Don't ask). Damn! I can't... Control...Myself!!! This show is so cool. Cheesy, but entertaining from beginning to end. You never now what's going to happen next. You get to see aliens, other worlds, impossible and crazy situations and one of the greatest heroes ever. The doctor. I just love the guy. And yes, I won't say anything else, I hate to spoil things to people that have no idea what I'm talking about.

My recommendation? Watch these shows, sinners! I promise action, cute guys and sexy girls, cheesy special effects and the secret of the universe revealed! Ok...Forget the last thing. Just pure entertainment, sinners...That's all you need.

...It's a plane! No, It's a comparison!!!

Click for a larger view of the picture

So, because I just don't have anything else to do, I've decided to take my criticisms and work them into the picture. Personally I think the changes that I've done make the costume look much better. As to what I fixed? Well just a simple tinkering with the colors (which I suspect is what will end up being done once they color correct the film), in which I toned down the cyan and added red (basically warmed up the picture) and increased the saturation of colors, that in my opinion make the suit look more iconic, doesn't end up making it look as garish as Christopher Reeve's costume (which, while he ruled, the costume has aged a bit badly).

The other thing that I changed is the shield, which was in my opinion the biggest problem of the new suit. I think that by making the shield bigger it helps break up the rather long blue abdominal section that is apparent on the picture. I also think that it looks much better that way, emphasizing the size of the shield in turn drawing the eye towards the shield, which in the end is what you would want.

UPDATE: Welcome any and all visitors from the movie blog (thanks for the link guys!) have a seat, leave a comment, read the blog :)

UPDATE: Seems to be comparison day for pictures, here is The Screen Rant comparing the err... beefiness factor of Batman and Superman. Needless to say, Batman would kick "Skinny Superman" butt anytime.

look up in the sky! it's.... not very good.

from my point of view at least, here it is, the first official superman picture.

and I don't like it much, the costume just seems a bit off. I have two main faults with this, the "S" looks too small, and the blue a bit too cyan. I (not being an expert on hollywood costuming or photographic filters) would've gone for a much larger "S" insignia, and a darker shade of blue, much like spiderman's movie costume. I also think that the re is quite wrong, but, that could change somewhat under the right conditions (you'd be surprised as to how different things can look under the proper lightning.

So color me unconvinced so far.

Addicted to Jack

My name is Ms. Mysterious and I have a new addiction: Jack Bauer. Damn, he's cute. Since 24 aired for the first time I've refused to watch it. I don't know, maybe I was to attached at the moment with Alias and Smallville and an extra addictive TV show would had ruined my life. Anyway,
hail the DVD's! I got my hands on seasons 1, 2 and 3 and now I can watch the damn show everyone talks about.

What can I say? Yesterday I finished watching the first season and right now, as I write this humble post I' watching season's 2 seventh episode.
The idea of the whole show it's interesting, showing events happening in real time. There are no isolated plots. Every episode plays an important part in the story.
What can I say about the characters? I really like most of theem (Xander Berkeley) is great as Mason) I love Jack, loved her wife, hate his daughter. She's not very bright, you know. To be honest, she's really annoying. They should have killed her. Ohh...Life's so unfair sometimes...
So, I won't give away the plot (just in case you're one of those two persons on earth that haven't seen the program), but to be honest it's not that impressive. Sometimes I even feel like I'm watching a soap opera. Still...It manages to have great moments. The main reason I watch it: Kiefer Sutherland. He's great as Jack. Intelligent. Lethal. Human. Jinxed.

What's going to happen now? I'll keep on watching the show. Now, if you excuse me I have a date with Jack. Later, sinners.

just a small correction on the post below...

I think someone had featured the daily planet logo before on another site. However, The rest of the story is true :)

Daily Planet 's logo exclusive! Just for you, sinners!

Yes! This is an exclusive for all those five or six faithful sinners that read this blog. Well, my better half, Mr. Marshmallow, was walking down the street when he suddenly saw a big crowd in Wynyard (If I remember correctly it's a train station and a pretty important bus stop in downtown Sydney). So, as I was saying, crowded streets, two blocks closed and guarded by the police. What was going on? Bryan Singer and his crew were there filming a scene from the upcoming movie Superman Returns. The location was heavily guarded so Mr. Marshmallow could only see a couple of cars with Metropolis license plates and vans with the Daily Planet logo. He was able to talk to a policeman that told him that the scene the crew was filming consisted in Clark Kent walking down the street and suddenly stopping in front of a TV shop where he sees there's trouble going on and realizes it's a good moment to change clothes and save the world. OOOOOOOOOOH YES... Anyway, I hope Mr. Marshmallow will get us some other shots in the future. Hail Mr. Marshmallow, star reporter of ahm...ahm...Our blog! Whoohooo!! :) Posted by Hello

Sorry, I'm weak.

Okay, I'm sorry. I tried to control myself but I have to take this out of my system. Sinners, if you havent's seen Alias S4 Ep. 14 , DON'T READ the next line!

DON'T YOU DARE KILL SPY DADDY, J.J. ABRAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARGHHHHAAGHHHHHHH!!!

Nice cliffhanger by the way ... :)

Sunday poetry

Evil is a captured sidekick
A poem by Madam Mayhem

Evil is receiveing the ransom in your Swiss bank account
And wiping out Portland anyway.
Evil is saying, "Let's get together for lunch", and then
Never, ever calling.
....
But most of all,
Evil is never having to say
You're sorry

From the book "How to be a superhero" By Doctor Metropolis

Heh :)

Alias and Doctor ...What's his name?

Busy week sinners, and I'm still so tired that my brain and my ideas are not connected. Yesterday I had a good TVdate with Mr. Marshmallow. We saw Alias and Doctor Who and exchanged some corny words and mushy moments. Oooh...LUUUUV..
Aaaaanyway...This is the second Alias episode in a row that's good. Yes, not good like back in the old days but still, had some great moments that will make you come back for more.

Alias S4 Ep14 "Nightingale". People melt and explode, Vaughn gets high and Jack and Sloane have a dark agenda and it seems they are baaaad guys again. Oh yeah, and Jack health is ahm...Not so good. That's all I'm going to say! Just watch it. Yes, I still believe they can save this lousy fourth season.

Now, about Doctor Who...First of all, for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about (Hey, one month ago I had no idea what this show was) let me tell you that the Doctor's quite popular. It started back in 1963 and ran for 36 years (!!!!) until 1989. Finally this year they decided to resurrect the Doctor. Now we can follow him and Rose (his new companion) across the galaxy, time, space and who knows what else.

Yeah, we've established that this is cheesy show, with ridiculous situations and yet is so fun to watch! Christopher Eccleston (28 days later, The others) is perfect as the doctor. One minute he's making you laugh and the next he's saying the most profound, wise thing about the universe that leaves you with your mouth wide open.
Not convinced? Watch at least episode 2 "The end of the world". My guess is that if you're a hopeless geek you'll be a fan in no time.

Squiddies!!!!

yeah, okay, everyone else knows about this, but far be it for me not to repeat everyone else. Vote for your favorite comic books, creators and even blogs, as awarded by the reaaaaally old (1980's!) but still charming and wonderfully fun (and dangerous if you are an idiot, a bastard or a moron), Usenet groups. Me, I'm a lurker, I admit it. but they are still fun nonetheless. Anyway vote! Go to Cognitive Dissonance for the full skinny

By the way, if you aren't into comics, and wish to do so, go and take a look at the winner's list for, at the very least, some of the best comics of the past 15 years. You may not end up liking all of them, but I'll guarantee you that you'll at least get great comics.

Monday, bloody Monday

Dark Angels follow me, over a godless sea
- Why should I cry for you?
by Sting

It's just one of those days. You finally stop going with the flow. You finally take a minute from your routine. You finally take a look around you. You look back and see the path full of unaccomplished dreams.
Dreams are still here with you, but they're finally losing it's color. Years ago they had shiny colors. Now, they're just...Grey.
Am I finally settling with what I have? Is it okay to do it? Have I passed to that moment when I just can't turn back and fix everything that's wrong? Was there even a moment like that?

Anyway... Sometimes I wonder if I'll be able to live with the memories of the past, of broken, unfulfilled dreams. Even if my life it's good I wonder if ten years from now I'll cry in the shadows for all those wasted moments that aren't coming back.

Tonight, Ms. Mysterious wonders.

The JLA stole my memories

I've always wondered why I don't remember a lot of things. Yes, Ms. Mysterious has a terrible memory...(But I guess now I can blame the JLA).
Okay, before we start, just a small comment about the last post:
It was Mr. Marshmallow's idea. (Hey, I'm not going to hell with him. Hot infernal weather it's not good for my skin.) Anyway.. Long live freedom of speech! ..Or whatever! Now, let's continue with our post, shall we?

It's a couple of minutes after midnight and I ate way too much ice-cream today. Yeah, those bastards at DC comics. I had to overcome my sadness by eating junk food. I finally read Identity crisis and DC Countdown and man, they're sooo sad. As Mr. Marshmallow said a couple of posts ago, I know that some of you hated big time this comics. Yes, they have big plot holes. They have stupid reasoning and in a way they destroy the balance within the League; But I guess in the end (and in this case I'm talking specifically about Identity) they give us an accurate portrayal of the human side in the superheros. Yes, they have superpowers and great fighting skills. Yes, they wear costumes and travel on invisible jets, or armored cars. Yes, they have high- tech gizmos and watch the world from a base in outer space. But at the end of the day they're regular guys, just like you and me, that sometimes make really bad decisions. And yes, they do have to deal with the consequences from taking those decisions.
They're not PERFECT.
And for me, this is reassuring. I want heroes, but also flesh and blood characters, people I can relate to in some way. Let's take for example Batman. He's angry. He's lonely. He bleeds, he hurts. He can fight people from other galaxies or god knows what, but what matters at the end of the day, what makes you love the character is that he's human. Imperfect. That even though he's so flawed, he keeps on trying. And sometimes he fails. And sometimes he wins.
So, for all of you that hated Identity Crisis because you saw a dark and weak side of your heroes, think about it again. Isn't that why we love them? Because in the end, they can make mistakes, just like us?

Ultimate Pope

Disclaimer: I sincerely mean this is in the nicest possible way, as I had the deepest and most sincere respect for Karol Wojtyla. But when I heard about his passing I couldn't help but think...

Does this mean that Marvel gets to reboot him?
